Shock: Some Democrats are Racist!!

A recent AP Poll finds:

MLK a Republican??

MLK a Republican??

WASHINGTON (AP) – Deep-seated racial misgivings could cost Barack Obama the White House if the election is close, according to an AP-Yahoo News poll that found one-third of white Democrats harbor negative views toward blacks—many calling them “lazy,” “violent” or responsible for their own troubles.

The poll, conducted with Stanford University, suggests that the percentage of voters who may turn away from Obama because of his race could easily be larger than the final difference between the candidates in 2004—about 2.5 percentage points.

So these geniuses figured out that the pro-slavery party that founded the KKK and fought against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 still have racists in thier midst? Amazing… I wonder if they polled Senator Byrd?

  1. They touted Jesse helms in North Carolina for being such a great leader who did wht was needed=Vote against everything concerning blacks, running racist ads against harvey Gnatt to get white sympathy for his re-election, sounds familiar?

  2. No doubt, racism crosses all lines and should be eliminated. My frustration is that people forget history. Look at the current election. Which party’s platform relies on class war and class envy, pitting the middle-class against the wealthy? (BTW, is anyone talking about the poor? Nah, they probably don’t vote anyway..) Which party is making race an issue? Which party has rejected woman leadership and is claiming that a woman should be home cooking for her family instead of leading a country? The Dems whole platform is about segregating people in to little groups and then pitting them against one another.

Then you have the media characterizing the parties like that Apple commercial. The cool hip young guy versus the stuffy, out of touch nerd. MSNBC even made that comparison after the conventions. I think they got the character assignments backwards….

  3. I agree. I think that Democrats are more likely to make race a factor, both altruistically and prejudicially, than Republicans. I also think that Republicans will tend to ignore the elephant in the room, and deny that many of the failings of our country, financially and legislatively, are essentially racist.

The racist sins of commission versus the racist sins of omission.

  4. If I remember correctly, when I was raising my children in a “middle-class” family, my biggest complaint was that both parties favored the “upper-class” with tax breaks and the “lower-class” (aka poor) with handout programs of all kind. The middle-class was ignored for many years, particularly with tuition help, etc. In today’s world, the poor have all of their welfare programs in place and “poor” women on welfare are having more and more babies in order to collect more and more welfare money and housing loans while their “men” are living off the food stamps she gets and neither have to work! Sorry, kind of a stretch, I know, but it makes my point. Having said all of that, there are many poor people who need help through no fault of their own and we as Christians should reach out to them as our own finances allow. I hope the current national financial situation does not create more poor, out-of-work people. In a perfect world there would be no class distinctions….too bad this is not a perfect world.

  5. There will always be class distinctions, that’s human nature. The problem comes when politicians pit one group against the other for political gain. A fair flat tax system would go a long way to get rid of the jealousy and bitterness between classes.

I think any folks are reluctant to be charitable because they feel they already ready being forced to by having their high rate taxes go to entitlement programs which only offer short term band aids and are being abused.

  6. And the ones that are being abused the most are not the ones really geared towards the poor – day care tax breaks for two income families with a BMW and a Highlander in the garage, purchasing unwanted agricultural products to prop up already inflated farm prices, grants to colleges and museums to produce work that no one is interested in and of course bailing out poorly run corporations where the CEO’s make millions.

  7. No doubt… pruning is in order. Let’s compare our current Government bureaucracy against the intent outlined in the constitution and pare the rest. Too many finger reaching way too far outside of their bounds…

Nah, wait, maybe we should let them handle health care too… I even have their new slogan “Health Care for the Healthy”
